Taisho Saquicoray

Taisho Saquicoray

Born in Huánucu, Perú, in 2003. During the academic year 2022-2023, he studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair with professor Wies Boevé.

In 2012 he entered the Huánuco section of Sinfonía por el Perú and started studying double bass with professor Omar Majino and individual lessons with Nathaniel de la Cruz. He graduated from the National Music University in Perú with professor Ricardo Otárola. In 2018 he entered the Young Sinfonía por el Perú Orchestra and studied with Carlos Arrivillaga Martínez. In 2022 he entered the OAcademy and studied with Dominic Seldis.

He has also attended masterclasses by Marcos Machado, Edmond Cheng, Andres Martin, Gjorgji Cincievski, Michael, Michael Bladerer, Giuseppe Ettorre, and Matthew McDonald.

He participated in the Montevideo Second Double Bass Festival, 2020 Malta International Double Bass Festival and 2021 ISB Young Bassist. In 2019 and 2022 he toured with Sinfonía por el Perú and Juan Diego Flórez in the Lucerne, Salzburg and Menuhin Gstaad Festivals.

As a student of the School he has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada and Juanjo Mena, and he has been a member of the Unidad Editorial Bottesini Double Bass Quintet.
