Takahiro Katayama

Born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1995. He began his musical career in Tokyo and furthered his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin with Martin Spangenberg, Jens Thoben, Markus Krusche, and Nina Janßen-Deinzer, where he completed his Master’s with Honours. Since 2021, he continues his higher education at the Paris National Conservatory of Music and Dance, as well as his orchestral education with Alessandro Carbonare at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. He has been awarded second prize at the 27th Ichikawa Music Competition and he was finalist at the 15th Saverio Mercadante International Clarinet Competition in 2018. He was also finalist at the Anton Rubinstein International Competition held in 2021. He has been granted scholarships by the Horita Ikuei Foundation, Fundación Segi, DAAD Promos, and Fundación Meyer.
