Thomas Francis Mahoney

Born in Exeter, England, in 2002. Since 2025, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music, in the Unidad Editorial Double Bass Chair, under Professor Wies de Boevé. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

In 2021, he began his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on a full scholarship, after also being accepted to the Royal Academy and the Royal College of Music. He has trained with Luis Cabrera, José Moreira, and Marco Behtash, and has performed at the Barbican with Ludovic Morlot and Gianandrea Noseda. He has also taken masterclasses with Rodrigo Moro, among others.

In London’s independent music scene, he has stood out through his work with Orpheus Sinfonia and in Trouble in Tahiti (Bernstein), which won Best Opera Production at the 2023 OffWest-End Awards. He is currently part of Orpheus’s young talent program and continues to develop his career as a double bassist in both symphonic and chamber music settings.
