Yuan Yu

Born in Beijing, China, in 2001. Winner of several international competitions, in 2017 he was awarded first prize at the 9th Kobe International Flute Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions for this instrument. In the same year he also won the first prize at the 7th International Flute Competition in Krakow. He is the youngest winner in the history of these two competitions. In 2018, the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) presented him with their Discovery Award. In 2015, he received the Honourable Mention at the 67th Prague Spring International Music Competition when he was 14 years old, and in 2019 at its 71st edition, he won a second prize. In 2021, he was awarded first prize at the International Music Competition in Cluj.
