Aniela Frey


Flute soloist at the Teatro Real and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Aniela Frey received her concert diploma at the Music University of Freiburg with Robert Aitken. She studied at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien and later on received her soloist diploma with distinction with Jacques Zoon at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève 

The Swiss-Austrian flutist has won numerous national and international competitions, such as the Jugend Musiziert, the Festa Special Award of the Osaka International Chamber Competition, the Grand Prix Zulawski, and the prestigious international prize "Prix Credit Suisse de Jeunes Solistes". As a result of this recognition, Aniela Frey was invited to make her debut with a solo recital at the Lucerne Festival. 

Her extensive experience as a concert performer includes ensembles such as the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, where she was Principal Flute, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra conducted by Claudio Abbado and the Zurich Opera Orchestra Academy and, as guest principal flautist, she has collaborated with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Zurich Opera Orchestra, the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra. Aniela Frey has been frequently invited to international concert tours and festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, the Lucerne Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival and the Bolzano Summer Festival. Aniela Frey has participated in recordings with renowned labels such as Decca, EMI and Deutsche Grammophon. 

In parallel to her acclaimed career as a soloist, Aniela Frey is also a highly active teacher, conducting regularly master classes for flute. In 2009, she was assistant professor to Jacques Zoon at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, and subsequently joined the flute professorship at the Katarina Gurska Centre of Music.
