2020-2021 Auditions | Fundación Ramón Areces "Alfredo Kraus" Voice Chair
The application period for the 2020-2021 academic year at the Reina Sofía School of Music for the Fundación Ramón Areces "Alfredo Kraus" Voice Chair is open, from 23 April to 14 May. The Voice Chair will be led by Professor Francisco Araiza starting 2020-2021.
At the auditions, the only selection criterion is the talent of the student. The process consists of several rounds:
- Online application.
- 1st Round. Preselection: The Selection Committee evaluates the transcript of records and the audiovisual material of each candidate and selects those who pass to the next round.
- 2nd Round. Online auditions: Selected applicants attend the online auditions on 15 and 16 June for the first examination, and 17 June for the second one. The Academic department will contact the candidate on later dates to arrange theory and musical knowledge tests.

Application form
It is an online application form that requests the following information:
- Information on previous musical studies (up to 3 different teachers or centres)
- Artistic CV (up to 900-character text)
- Links (maximum 3) to a recent recording (at Youtube, Vimeo, etc.)
- Programme of studies you wish to apply to (Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Private Degree)
- Chosen pieces according to the obligatory repertoire:
- One aria from an oratorio, cantata or motet.
- Three opera arias of your choosing. All arias preceded by a recitative must include it at the audition.
- Three songs: a German lied; the other two from French, Italian or Spanish repertoire.
- Payment of a €75 application fee (via PayPal or bank transfer).

There is an €75 application fee for auditions at the Reina Sofía School of Music, to be paid via PayPal or bank transfer, stating your full name in the concept:

If you are pre-selected for online auditions, we will contact you via email before your audition date. These take place online on 15 to 17 June and entail a €30 audition fee, to be paid before the audition date.
