The Reina Sofia School offers two Summer Programmes for 2022 for young talents aged 10 to 18 year olds
- From 27 June to 10 July, the Reina Sofía School of Music offers a unique musical training programme in Santander, the Music and Culture Summer Camp, and from 11 to 24 de July, in Madrid, the Young Artists Summer Camp.
- Music and Culture is a musical, cultural and leisure programme in Santander, for children aged 10 to 14 and covers all levels of knowledge of a music instrument. Young Artists, on the other hand, is a 100% musical programme that will be taking place in Madrid, with young talents from 12 to 18 years old.
- Both programmes offer the possibility of choosing between a full campus (where students stay overnight) or day campus option. In addition, the Reina Sofía School offers scholarships on the cost of the programme or discounts for early enrolment, former students or second siblings. Limited slots.
Madrid, 1 February 2022.- The Reina Sofía School of Music is celebrating the sixth edition of its summer programmes.
The Music and Culture Summer Camp, to be held in Santander from 27 June to 10 July, is open to students between 10 and 14 years old, who play string instruments (violin, viola and cello) and piano. It can also be opened to other instruments (flute, clarinet, bassoon, oboe, double bass, horn, trumpet, classical guitar, lyrical singing) according to demand (with a minimum of three students per instrument).
The summer experience will be a cultural immersion into the world of music with performance and music theory classes, cultural activities and sports on weekends, balancing the intensity of instrumental activity. It is open to all levels and is a great choice as a prelude to the “Young Artists” programme.
Participants will combine their individual classes, chamber music, choir, music reading and “Practicing tips” masterclasses where teachers will offer their own experience when facing stage fright and music tests at the Ataúlfo Argenta Conservatory, with leisure and cultural activities, as well as sports on weekends. They will attend closed-door rehearsals of the concerts within the 21st Santander Encounter of Music and Academy, a music festival throughout Cantabria, organised by the School, and more cultural activities, which will make their time in the programme a very enriching experience, always with music as the protagonist.
On the other hand, the Young Artists Summer Camp, in Madrid, from 11 to 24 July, is aimed at 12-to-18-year-old young talents with intermediate and advanced level and at least two years of experience playing an instrument, as well as previous musical training.
Students will have a 100% musical experience in the facilities of the Reina Sofía School of Music, consisting of instrument technique in individual classes, rehearsals, chamber music, “Building an Artist” masterclasses, that will help them to enter the professional world of music (preparing their curriculum, auditions, exams, competitions, injury prevention, etc.). In addition, they will receive classes in music reading and body technique, as well as music performance, where the stage of the Sony Auditorium will become an extension of the classroom.
All participants will be educated in skills closely linked to the Reina Sofía School, such as perseverance, dedication, teamwork, a high level of responsibility and the promotion of dialogue between cultures through music and art. In both programmes, students will be able to develop their artistic talent with the best professors, in an environment conducive to this and with top quality facilities.
At the end of each programme the young participants will perform in front of their own family and friends. A successful music show as the culmination of two weeks of learning in an unforgettable summer.
Both programmes offer full campus (students stay overnight in student residencies) or day campus options. Furthermore, the Reina Sofía School grants scholarships covering 40% of the cost of the programmes, discounts for early enrolment, former participants and second sibling.
