Marc Serra

Born in Barcelona, Marc Serra combines his career as a soloist with an intense activity in the world of lied. Described as a musician who “seems to have a primary, respectful, and intimate relationship with music, as if he understood it from the cortex and breathed life into it” (Diari Núvol), he has been praised for his absolute attention to timbre and his sensitivity in evoking sonic nuances, as noted by the Revista Musical Catalana, which describes him as “subtle, sweet, and tender.”
Marc made his solo debut at the age of 16 at the Palau de Congressos Auditorium in Girona, performing with the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory Orchestra under the baton of Lluís Caballeria. Throughout his career, he has received awards in numerous national and international competitions. In 2017, he made his debut at the Palau de la Música as part of the “El Primer Palau” series and has performed across Spain and Switzerland in prominent venues such as L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Grosser Saal of the Hochschule für Musik Basel, as well as in festivals like Nits de Clàssica and Jalgi! Voz Festival in Vitoria.
As a lied pianist, he has had the opportunity to debut at renowned festivals such as the Schubertíada de Vilabertran, Oxford Lieder Festival, Toronto Summer Music, and LIFE Victoria in Barcelona, performing in venues like L’Auditori de Barcelona and the Palau de la Música.
He studied piano in Barcelona with Maria Jesús Crespo and in Basel with Claudio Martínez Mehner. Additionally, he has deepened his knowledge of lied with Francisco Poyato and Anton Kernjak, receiving guidance from masters such as Luiz de Moura Castro, Ferenc Rados, Hartmut Höll, and Wolfram Rieger.
He has been awarded scholarships by the Güell Foundation (2015) and the Victòria dels Àngels Foundation, with whom he collaborated on the recording of the CD Pau i Victòria. In recent years, he has worked as a collaborative pianist for the Victòria dels Àngels Lied Master’s at ESMuC and is currently a vocal coach at the Badalona Conservatory and a professor of the Lied seminar at the Liceu Conservatory’s Higher Music Center.
In January 2025, he made his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York as part of Renée Fleming’s SongStudio program.
Since the 2025–2026 academic year, he has been the accompanying pianist professor of the “Alfredo Kraus” Voice Chair, Fundación Ramón Areces, at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid.
