Mikolaj Konopelski

Born in Katowice (Poland) in 1985. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2009. He continued his studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid with Professor Natalia Shakhovskaya.

Since 2009, he has been a member of the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and, since 2014, a soloist with the Plural Ensemble. He has recorded for broadcasters such as Televisión Española, RNE, Bayerischer Rundfunk, and Polish Radio.

He has received numerous awards in international competitions, including the Lutosławski International Cello Competition, the Penderecki Competition, and the International Chamber Music Competition in Thessaloniki, among others. He has performed as a soloist with European orchestras, with highlights including his interpretation of Ligeti’s Cello Concerto at the National Auditorium in Madrid.

Since 2019, he has been Associate Professor of the Aline Friel-Destezet Cello Chair at the Reina Sofía School of Music.
