Rodolfo Epelde Cruz

Born in Eibar (Gipúzcoa) in 1964, he studied at Madrid’s Royal Conservatory of Music, at Hamburg’s Hochshule für Musik, and at Versailles‘ Conservatoire National de Région. At the same time, he completed his studies in Telecommunications Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Madrid.
He is currently Associate Professor at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación “la Caixa” Horn Chair with professor Radovan Vlatković. He regularly gives masterclasses at national and international conservatories (Manchester, Rotterdam, Berlín, Oporto, Fiesole, Italian Brass Week) and is asked to prepare and conduct the wind sections of the most important youth orchestras: National Youth Orchestra of Spain (JONDE), Youth Orchestra of the Basque Country (EGO), Youth Orchestra of Andalusia, Youth Orchestra of the Region of Murcia, Youth Orchestra of Catalonia (JONC), the Youth Orchestra of the Region of Madrid (JORCAM), and the Tchaikovsky Ekaterinburg Youth Orchestra, among others.
His alumni hold positions in several national (orchestras of RTVE, Galicia, Santiago, Extremadura, Madrid’s Symphony, Navarra, Córdoba, Bilbao, and Basque Country) and international orchestras (BBC Scottish, Scala de Milán, Innsbruck, Marsella, DSO Berlín, Kiel, Bielefeld, Zúrich, and Stuttgart).
As soloist, he has performed with the National Spanish Orchestra, Orchestra of the City of Barcelona, Orchestra of the Basque Country, Reina Sofía Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of the Region of Madrid, and JONDE.
In 2016 he was a member of the jury of the prestigious ARD International Horn Competition in Munich.
Since 2009 he has been horn soloist with the National Spanish Orchestra.
