Encounter of Santander
Afterwork
Trumpet and piano are the protagonists of a project born from an encounter between two musicians, two people connected by an ocean on their distant but shared shores.
It is through these "songs without words" that Alexis Morales and Calio Alonso have chosen to sketch a canvas of diverse images with all the beauty of the lands and beings that have welcomed and inspired them, giving sonority and visibility to their most authentic expressions, which are none other than those of life itself in its broadest aspects. A journey through different images of "two shores" that converge in a common and collective sound territory, rich in emotions, colours, roots, history, sounds and songs, in the voices without lyrics but with all the soul of the trumpet.
The Siete canciones populares españolas by Manuel de Falla, the Cinco Canciones Negras by the Catalan Xavier Montsalvatge, a suite of Guatemalan folk songs dedicated to the land of the quetzal, a selection of Mexican songs by the legendary trumpeter Rafael Méndez and the Siete canciones costarricenses de inspiración popular by Marvin Camacho, composed specifically for these two artists and this particular project, mirroring those of Manuel de Falla and reflecting both sides of the Atlantic at different times, are the musical images to celebrate the beauty and richness of these vast lands connected by the same ocean at its edges with so many shared forms, visions and voices.
The concert will be narrated by journalist and writer Martín Llade.
The selection of "pictures" that will be screened during the concert has been made by María Del Mar Villafranca and Marvin Camacho.
