Musethica is an association declared of Public Utility since 2016, which introduces a new concept and approach to higher education in classical music performance.

The Musethica concept, pioneering on a global scale, seeks to promote cultural exchange and contribute to a more open society by taking classical music beyond its traditional concert halls and sharing it with all audiences. At the same time, it offers young, outstanding international artists the opportunity to perform concerts on a regular basis as part of their artistic development.

Musethica was launched in Zaragoza, Spain, in 2012, by its co-founders, violist Avri Levitan and professor Carmen Marcuello. Since then, it has expanded internationally and now collaborates with 14 countries outside Spain.

Throughout the week of 22 September, a string quartet made up of students from the Reina Sofía School of Music will take part in a series of 10 concerts for different social groups, culminating in a public concert on Friday 26 September at the Sony Auditorium. Accompanied by violist Avri Levitan, they will perform a programme including Schumann’s String Quartet in A major, op. 41 num. 3, and Dvořák’s String Quintet in E-flat major, op. 97.

This concert is part of the European project ‘1000+ Concerts: Innovating Higher Music Education through Social Inclusion’, which aims to transform higher music education in Europe by promoting a socially engaged approach to classical music teaching. It is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Europe Culture Programme.
