Cristian Emanuel Rupa

Born in Ploiești, Romania, in 2003. Since 2022, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Clarinet Chair with professor Pascal Moraguès. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

He began his music studies in Castellón. In 2011 he entered the Maestre Tarrega Conservatory and in 2013 he went back to his hometown where he continued studying clarinet at the Carmen Sylva Arts School. In 2021 he finished his high school and was admitted with highest qualifications into the Bucarest National Music School, where he studies with professor Emil Vișenescu. He has also attended masterclasses by Fabio di Càsola, Gábor Varga, Pascal Moraguès, José Luis Estellés, Calogero Palermo, and Pirmin Grehl (chamber music).

In 2017 he was awarded first prize at the Romania National Music Olympics and performed as soloist for the first time with the Paul Constantinescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Ploiești. Later, he has received several scholarships from foundations such as Musicians Union and the Margareta of Romania Royal Foundation.

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Juanjo Mena; with the Sinfonietta, conducted by Zsolt Nagy, and within the Soloists of the 21st century series. He has been part of the Strauss Quintet. He is currently a member of the Mistral Trio and the Zéphyros Quintet.
