Born in Córdoba, he began his vocal studies at the Conservatorio Superior de Música of his hometown and completed them at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he earned the title of Professor of Voice.

Awarded scholarships by various institutions—including the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Provincial Council of Córdoba, Juventudes Musicales de Madrid, and the International Singing Competition Pedro Lavirgen—he furthered his training at the Reina Sofía School of Music under the guidance of Alfredo Kraus. There, he was awarded the diploma for Most Outstanding Student of the Vocal Chair, presented by Her Majesty Queen Sofía during an official ceremony at El Pardo Palace.

He has received additional training from Teresa Berganza and Rayna Kabaivanska. He currently continues to refine his technique with Maestro Angelo Capobianco in Verona.

He made his professional debut in 1992 at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville in Tosca, performing alongside Plácido Domingo.

He has an extensive repertoire of art song and oratorio, performing a wide range of styles and composers: Mussorgsky’s Songs and Dances of Death, Ravel’s Don Quixote Songs, Verdi’s Requiem, Haydn’s Stabat Mater, The Creation, and Missa in tempore Belli, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem, and Handel’s Messiah, with notable recitals at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Reales Alcázares of Seville, and the Roman Theatre of Mérida.

He has performed on the most prestigious stages in Spain, including:

The Teatro Real in Madrid in La Sonnambula, Samson et Dalila, Don Carlo, Tosca, Albéniz’s Merlín, Halffter’s Don Quijote, and Puccini’s La Bohème;

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona in Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Verdi’s Macbeth and Otello, and Wagner’s Parsifal—all recorded on DVD;

The Palacio de Festivales de Cantabria in Tosca, Carmen, and La Bohème;

The Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville in Marina, Die Zauberflöte, and Madama Butterfly;

The Palacio Euskalduna (ABAO) in Bilbao in Salome;

The Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo in Lucrezia Borgia and Salome;

The Auditorio de La Coruña in Mozart’s Zaide;

The Gran Teatro of Córdoba in La Bohème and Il Barbiere di Siviglia;

The Palau de la Música in Valencia in La venta de los gatos and El gato montés;

And the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez in Tosca, La Bohème, and Il Trovatore.

He has worked with renowned conductors such as Yehudi Menuhin, Romano Gandolfi, Richard Bonynge, Antoni Ros Marbà, Enrique García Asensio, Maurizio Benini, García Navarro, Marco Armiliato, Rinaldo Alessandrini, and G.P. Sandosgno, among others.
