Hugo Sergio Hidalgo Herrera

Born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1997. Since 2023, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Fundación BBVA Viola Chair with professor Diemut Poppen. He has been granted scholarships by MAEC/AECID and Fundación Albéniz.

He graduated with honours in 2021 at the University of Arts of Cuba, and during his career he has attended masterclasses by Ihor Karsko, Firmian Lermer, Pablo de Pedro, Anastasia Shugaeva, Walter Raiter, and Florian Shule, among others.

He has participated in festivals like Habana Clásica, Mozart Habana, as a soloist in La Habana International Contemporary Music Festival, the Young Pianists Festival and has been selected to take part in the Cuban-European Youth Academy projects.

He is member of the Lyceum Mozartiano Orchestra in La Habana and the Musica Eterna Chamber Orchestra conducted by Guido López-Gavilán.

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Péter Csaba, and he is currently part of the Fundación Mutua Madrileña Ensemble.
