Kaleb Bou Roig

Born in Jimma, Ethiopia, in 2004. Since 2022, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Bassoon Chair with professor Gustavo Núñez. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz.

He began his music studies at the age of eight and studied at the Institut Escola Artístic Oriol Martorell in Barcelona with professor Meritxel Ferrer, where he graduated with Honours. At the same time, he has received regular lessons from Noé Cantú. He has also attended masterclasses by Miriam Gussek, Ronald Karten, Guilhaume Santana, and Mor Biron.

On the orchestral level, he has been Principal Bassoon of the Catalunya National Youth Orchestra (JONC) – Alevins conducted by Manel Valdivieso, has collaborated with the JONC and has been part of Barcelona, Sant Cugat del Vallés and Royal Concertgebouw Youth Orchestras, as well as the Symphony Band of Cataluña, with conductors Xavier Pagès Corella, James Ross, Salvador Brotons, Pablo Heras-Casado, and Carlos Checa.

As a student of the School he has been a member of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena and Péter Csaba, and of the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Paul Goodwin. He is currently a member of the Casa de la Moneda Scarlatti Quintet.
