Stanislas Emmanuel Kim

Born in Courbevois (France) in 1993. From 2021 to 2023, he studied at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Aline Foriel-Destezet Cello Chair with professor Jens Peter Maintz. Her Majesty Queen Sofía handed him the Diploma to the most outstanding student of his chair in the 2021-2022 academic year.

He studied in Paris with Raphaël Pidoux and Philippe Muller, and in Hannover with Tilmann Wick and Leonid Gorokhov. He has also received advice from David Geringas, Frans Helmerson, Ferenc Rados, Tabea Zimmermann, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Jens Peter Maintz, and Alban Gerhardt, among others.

He has received awards in international competitions such as Bucarest’s George Enescu Competition (Romania), the Brahms Competition (Austria), Berlin’s Hindemith Competition (Germany), the Swedish International Competition, Lyon’s Chamber Music International Competition (France) and, in 2023, the International Klaipeda David Geringas Cello Competition (Lithuania).

He has been invited to participate in several festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Hitzacker Festival, the Bachtage Würzburg and Bergen’s Grieg Festival, and has performed as soloist and chamber musician in many European and Asian venues with violinists Midori, Sergey Dogadin, and Tobias Feldmann, among others. He has recently worked with the NDR Radiophilharmonie and the George Enescu Philarmonic, and, since 2022, he is soloist cello at the Community of Madrid Orchestra.

As a student of the School, he has performed with the Fundación EDP Camerata, with whom he was soloist under the baton of Paul Goodwin.

He plays a Villaume cello loaned by the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
