Soloists for the 21st Century: Intersections and Confluences

Auditorio Sony, Madrid

More than a dialogue between Europe’s classical–romantic tradition and the forms and aesthetics of Latin America, the repertoire of this concert reflects the echoes of that encounter: traces of European structures transplanted and reconfigured in other contexts, and, in turn, new sounds and practices born of these intersections and confluences.

Soloists for the 21st Century

The Soloists for the 21st Century series was created in 1992 and is one of the longest-running in the Reina Sofía School of Music’s concert season. Organised in collaboration with Radio Clásica of Spanish National Radio, it showcases highly talented young performers who are destined to become the protagonists of the musical life of the coming years.

The concert will be broadcast live on Radio Clásica, with audiences in the hall able to follow the commentators’ narration between the different pieces. Soloists for the 21st Century celebrates the excellence of the new generation of soloists in a fresh, accessible, and inspiring format.

A series to discover.

Noon Suite

Accompanying the Soloists for the 21st Century concerts is our Noon Suite project, offering audiences the chance to enjoy a range of activities alongside the concert.

Closeness, discovery, and conversation define the Noon Suite experience. Like the various dances of a Baroque suite, each gathering unfolds in several movements: guided tours of the School, an introductory talk about the programme, the concert as the central piece, and finally, a dialogue with the musicians after the performance.

Registration for guided tours of the School will open 10 days before the concert here. Places are limited.

Free entry for members of the School’s Friends Programme. Find out more about the Friends Programme here.

The concert will also be streamed live on our Youtube channel.
