Historic recording from the masterclass series devoted to Isaac Albéniz’s Suite Iberia, taught by the great pianist Alicia de Larrocha at the Granados-Marshall Academy in Barcelona. In this lesson, focused on Rondeña,  Larrocha works primarily on rhythmic precision, addressing the binary/ternary duality and its relationship with possible liberties (rubatos, ritardandos…), the proportion regarding the piece’s structure and dynamics, articulation, pedal use (depending on the acoustics), and phrasing in relation to the musical discourse and the unfolding harmonies.
Alicia de Larrocha emphasizes the importance of harmonic analysis, as well as the work on voice independence and the sound balance between them.
