SCHUMANN, Robert
Fantasiestücke (Piezas de fantasía) para clarinete y piano op. 73 (versión para viola y piano)
III. Rasch und mit Feuer
Gérard Caussé, guest professor
Héctor Mira Ferriz, student
Antonia Valente, accompanying pianist
For this movement, Caussé gives the student some recommendations regarding the most suitable parts of the bow to use at certain moments. Later, he provides guidance on identifying the melodies played by the piano and the viola, and their sound balance according to the written dynamics. He also suggests that the student position himself closer to the pianist to better convey the connection between the two instruments, which is essential in Schumann’s piece.
For the following section, which has a contrasting character compared to the previous one, Caussé proposes focusing more on bow work and less on vibrato. Then, at the student's request, they review the articulations in the section and the differences between accents and sforzandi.
