SANCAN, Pierre
Sonatine for oboe and piano
III. Presto
Ramón Ortega Quero, professor
Jimena Miranda Claveria, student
Alina Artemyeva, accompanying pianist
After the performance, the professor congratulates the student and offers some general comments: to seek more color in the sound by exploring different textures — something characteristic of this French music — and to use expressive tools to gain more volume in the stronger dynamics.
Going back to the beginning, Ortega notes that in the opening bars the dynamic should not open up too much, and the sixteenth notes should be very light. For a particular note, the standard position tends to be flat in terms of intonation, so it should be corrected slightly upwards. Toward the end, he suggests giving more weight to the final anacrusis, taking a bit more time and playing it with a strong accent.
