TANSMAN, Alexandre
Fantaisie for cello and orchestra (cello and piano reduction)
Pablo Ferrández, guest professor
Alejandro Gómez Pareja, student
Miguel Ángel Ortega Chavaldas, accompanying pianist
After the student's performance, Ferrández remarks that there are many good aspects, but interpretatively there's a lack of communication, expressing all the colors and nuances the piece possesses, projecting more while playing, and syncing more with the piano.
Starting over from the beginning, they review the more relevant notes, phrasings, and musical direction, thus significantly enhancing expression and nuance richness (vibrato, portamenti, romantic character, articulation...).
He emphasizes the utmost importance of maintaining the relationship between the notes at all times and continues with recommendations and tools to ensure that expressiveness is varied and as rich as possible. Finally, he advises the student to explore more options within this piece and not to stick to safe choices while studying, but rather take some risks.
